FrizzLit presents
The Great Beyond
A sea-themed variety show on Herman Melville's birthday
Thu, Aug 1 from 7pm - 10pm
Music! Storytelling! Poetry! Comedy! Acting! Photography! Portait illustration!
It's time for another FrizzLit variety show. Category is: the sea. Or: whales. Or: the color blue.
Come experience new creations by 12 brilliant artists. The idea is to give these artists a deadline — in this case, Herman Melville's birthday — and a venue. One night only!
You will be the first person to listen to these pieces of writing, hear these new musical compositions and one-of-a-kind covers, feast your eyes on new works of photography, experience a new short work of theater, and — if you want — go home with Kathryn Rathke posters of your favorite dead writers.
Most importantly, you'll get to hang out with your FrizzLit friends at the height of summer, when Seattle is at its most beautiful.

The artists
On the lineup are Tomo Nakayama, Sarah Rudinoff, Quinn Franzen, Adam Haws (with Will Spengler on cello), Heather McHugh, Rebecca Brown, Julia Sweeney, George Meyer, John Roderick, Paul Matthew Moore, Debbie Miller, and Audrey Van Buskirk.

The afterparty
There's a free karaoke afterparty nearby. Details of the afterparty will be included with your ticket receipt and confirmation.
The art below includes a photograph by Heather McHugh, the poster art for Great Beyond created by Corianton Hale, and Kathryn Rathke's splendid illustration of young Herman Melville.
