Our vision here at “Satyrs and Maenads” is foremost the Greek audience’s familiarization of with porn as a form of art. Through our film selection our ambition is to celebrate the importance of “our differences”, the liquidity of gender and of the colourful palette of sexuality. We want to offer to our audience alternative views of the world of pornography, away from the stereotypical approaches of commercial porn where the “male gaze” is dominant. We want our festival to be a safe space for collective discussion on pornography, sexuality, sex work and identities, through our screenings, discussion panels, interactive seminars and speeches. Our ambition is to purposefully cultivate a fertile ground for local artists so that gradually a Greek art porn scene can emerge.
