FrizzLit's first Symphony of Sentences LIVE features the writer and researcher Blaise Agüera y Arcas, author of a mind-blowing and lasvishly illustrated new book on the human species called Who Are We Now?

The live Symphony will take place during a FrizzLit happy hour on Saturday, June 1, from 4 pm-6 pm.

We'll do the Symphony halfway through the happy hour, at 5 pm, using a microphone that will be set up in the Sorrento's restaurant. Bring a sentence written by Blaise that you would be willing to read aloud. You may choose a sentence from Who Are We Now? or from Blaise's previous book, the genre-defying Ubi Sunt.

Or — or! — you can choose a sentence by Herman Melville, the next author we're reading in the FrizzLit book club. The Melville club, led by Rebecca Brown, starts five days after this happy hour. (To join that club, which meets on Zoom, you need a ticket.)

If enough people bring sentences by Blaise and by Melville, we'll do two Symphonies.

Blaise is a Vice President and Fellow at Google Research. He presented some of the findings in Who Are We Now? during the Orlando FrizzLit book club in 2021. He has written widely at the intersections of machine intelligence, art, ethics, and social science. If you are not already familiar with Blaise’s work, check out his TED Talks.

Both Blaise's books and Herman Melville's book of stories will be on sale from Elliott Bay Book Company at this event.

Seating is extremely limited for this happy hour and reservations are required. This ticket is your reservation.

There is a $20 minimum on food or drink per person at this happy hour. STELLA.'s Aperitivo menudinner menu will both available.
