The Great Gatsby's 100th Birthday Bash
A dinner party with musical guests
Thu, Apr 10 from 6:30pm - 9:30pm
The photograph at the top of this page is what Hotel Sorrento looked like on the day The Great Gatsby was published — April 10, 1925.
This April 10 — the novel's 100th birthday — we're throwing a 1925-themed party, with live music and a special menu.
Live music
Half an hour after the party starts, Genius Award-winning theater artists — composer Chris Jeffries and actress and singer Sarah Rudinoff — will perform a short set of live music at 7 pm.
At 7:30 pm, Sorrento star Shawn Schlogel will take over on piano — and he takes requests! He can perform whatever song you want in the style of 1925. If any of the music catches your fancy, we can gather around the piano and sing along.
Eat dinner at the party
There's a $25 minimum on food and drink per person, not included in the ticket price.
Drink specials
Mint juleps, gin rickeys, champagne, scotch — all the drinks Scott Fitzgerald and Dorothy Parker were knocking back at those massive parties that he fictionalized in The Great Gatsby will be available. There will also be mocktails and other non-alcoholic options.
Dress code
Dress up! There will be a photographer at the party — The Stranger's former staff photographer Kelly O — and other people will be dressed up. Wear something formal, or sparkly, or 1925-ish. Or wear what a gangster would wear to a speakeasy. Or wear something weird.
Secret room
There is a secret room. But it's a secret.
