Empress Wu meets Kerosene Jones in an experimental performance/artist talk that dissects and enacts mythopornographic tableaus.
Empress Wu and Kerosene Jones present Insemination Jubilee: Gooning and Cocooning (2026), the inevitable sequel (or arguably prequel) to Jones’s Mummycule 4 Bob (2026), performed exclusively for Aorta Live. Expect fag4dyke cross-pollination and gestational whimsy on every register: creative, somatic, psychological. Staged in Empress Wu's dungeon and cocooned by the magic of friendship, this performance-cum-scene-cum-artist-talk-cum-studio-tour digs into where these two artists' personal and professional practices coalesce. Is art about sex? Is sex about power? Is power about life? If life imitates art but is stranger than fiction, at the end of a long day, who's really inseminating whom?
Open to all 18+
About your Presenter:
Kerosene Jones is a writer, curator, and interdisciplinary artist whose work engages with marginalized queer subcultures and radical performance legacies, as well as the history, practice, and ethics of extended vocal technique. Utilizing unorthodox compositional techniques and experimental research procedures, Jones endeavors to provide sonic, ceremonial, and intertextual sanctuary for horny ghosts with unfinished business. His work has been supported by Art Omi, BBC Radio 4, Black Mountain College Museum, MoMA PS1, NYSCA, The Poetry Project, Visual AIDS, and Wave Farm. His arts & culture writing has appeared in BOMB, Filmmaker Magazine, Interview, Document Journal, X-TRA, The Brooklyn Rail, and The Kitchen Magazine. Jones is the Arts Editor of WUSSY Magazine and the Programs Manager at CPR - Center for Performance Research. He is a graduate of the Performance and Interactive Media Arts MFA Program at Brooklyn College.
Empress Wu (all pronouns) is a dominatrix and cultural activist practicing in NYC and beyond. Their work explores the performance of intimacy, through digital landscapes, queer SM, sexual labor, ancestral ritual, conflict, and more. Her work in all its forms have been seen at MoMA PS1, Performa Biennial, Brown University, and probably a dungeon near you. She lives digitally at empresswu.net
